Specific Accurate and Rapid Provisioning

Plan

Jason Scott

“The software is now close to completion and trials will begin on two sites in the south in early February.”

Jason Scott, Principal Development Engineer, Stent
Max Gwynn

“We now eagerly await the first site trials of the software with its imminent implementation on-site. One aspect I will be particularly interested in is the durability of the hardware in the field.”

Max Gwynn, Site Engineer, Stent
Simon Thomas

“The application works fine in the lab - it’s going to be interesting to see how practical it is to use in the field.”

Simon Thomas, Technical Director, Data Mobility

Background

Stent is one of the leading ground-engineering contractors in the UK. They design and construct foundations for all types of buildings, structures and civil engineering works. Their range of piling techniques include rotary bored, CFA, precast driven and retaining wall piling. In addition they carry out diaphragm walling and ground improvement utilising environmental techniques.

Problem

Due to the increased reliance on Information Technology in the Construction industry the speed and mobilisation in which IT services are delivered is paramount post contractual award. These have become a vital component not only in supporting back office operation but 3rd party interfaces e.g. consultants, clients etc.

An improved portfolio of telecommunication options, supplier register will speed deployment, drive down, if not negate liabilities, improve day 1 effectiveness and improve accuracy.

Proposed solution

There are a number of key construction applications that will need to be identified and discussions initiated with the Application Developers Manufacturer in specific areas of Web interfaces and latency demands.

The alternatives telecommunications suppliers and services will also need to be flexible and scaleable in the provisioning of services to meet all UK construction organisations needs at the Small, Medium & Enterprise levels in not only the cost of options, variable terms and the length of tenure.

The Services and Products will need to have a baseline migration process to Fixed Wire/Fibre solution or as an identified process as a backup/contingency service.
